In our 950th anniversary year, we had the extraordinary opportunity to safeguard the Cathedral’s rich musical tradition. Every donation made during this campaign was doubled thanks to four major gifts totalling £950,000.
The appeal came to an end in March 2026, with just over £1 million raised from over 2,000 people. We are extraordinarily grateful to all those who saw the value of music at the Cathedral and made a donation. This campaign supported the Chichester Cathedral Platinum Endowment Trust for Music, a vital step in safeguarding the Cathedral’s choir, organ scholars and much more. Music is at the heart of our community, but sustaining it requires significant resources.
We launched our appeal in March 2025 with a special recording of Rutter's The Lord Bless You and Keep You.
In January 2026, we released a recording of the choir singing Jerusalem. Read more about it here: Jerusalem to mark the 110th anniversary of Hubert Parry setting William Blake’s words to music, celebrating the hymn’s deep Sussex connections.
