Musician Biographies
John Robinson is an award-winning organist, performing in Cathedrals and Concert Halls across the USA and Europe. He has recorded for Priory, Herald, Hyperion, Regent, Ambisonic and Decca USA. In 2022 his organ recording 'Laus Deo' was 'Editor's Choice' in the Awards Edition of Gramophone Magazine and received wide critical acclaim. As Director of Music at St. Paul's Harvard Square, Boston, USA, his Choir collaborated with the Boston Symphony Orchestra, Boston Pops and Boston Lyric Opera under conductors including Charles Dutoit, Andris Nelsons and Keith Lockhart. His choral releases are on Decca Records USA and Sony Classical. John won the Plymouth National Organ competition, and the Brian Runnett Prize for organ. John was Organ Scholar at St. John’s College Cambridge with Dr. Christopher Robinson and Dr. David Hill, and Assistant Director of Music at Canterbury Cathedral where he recorded an acclaimed solo DVD. John is currently Organist and Director of Music at Blackburn Cathedral, with its famous modernist Walker instrument. Recent performances have included the complete Maurice Duruflé, and the Bach Trio Sonatas.

Chichester Cathedral's Lunchtime Concert series is self-supporting, and thrives through the generosity of its audiences. While there is no charge for admission, we suggest a minimum donation of £7 per person, with Gift Aid applied if possible. Donations can be made in the retiring collection, in the Cathedral, at our Visitor’s Desk or at various donation points, using cash, card and contactless or using the button below.

Lunchtime Concerts take place every Tuesday at 1.10pm during term-time, our talented performers come from across the UK and occasionally overseas, to delight our audiences with music from Beethoven to Chopin, Elgar to Mozart and more.
